Operation ONE Greater Community
RefugeeConnect's impact is wide but we still need your help!
While we are currently unable to convene in person due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, RefugeeConnect continues to support a welcoming community for refugees in Cincinnati by mobilizing remote volunteers and Community Navigators through its Refugee School Impact Program.
In the last 45 days, RefugeeConnect has hired 4 Community Navigators (speaking 7 languages) and 2 Community Resource Volunteers to:
- Conduct outreach with 97 families currently served through the Refugee School Impact Program via phone and video-conferencing to assess needs around food, housing, internet, unemployment, and e-learning and academic resources for school aged children, with the goal of linking families to critical community resources close to their homes.
- Provide a social connection to families who might otherwise feel isolated during this time.
- Deliver education from doctors and experts around COVID-19 to ensure families understand guidelines for practicing safe social distancing while getting basic needs met.
- Provide updates from local government on public health policies and stay-at-home orders.
